Thanks for stopping by to check out Great Lakes American Bulldogs. I would like to take a little time to tell what we are doing here. 1st a little history. We bred Rottweilers for several years and got to a point were we wanted a change. We were looking for a breed that was different, and more diverse in it's breed standard. In 1998 we bought our 1st American Bulldog. This just happened to be the same time that I took a major career change and left the livestock industry for a job in law enforcement. This was a major transition for me. I still had a desire to care for animal so we became more serious about our dogs and jumped into the American Bulldog breed with both feet.
Our 1st AB was a Standard type dog named Daisy out of Billy Hines lines. We then purchased our 1st Johnson stud dog from Johnny Powell. We can't thank Johnny enough for selling us Powell's Machine Jed. We were also lucky enough to purchase McEvoy's Big Poppa Pump (a Fas son) from Lance and Leslie Rose. You'll see Pump is the sire of Solo and Tula, and it goes without saying that we thought a lot of him. We like the stamina and drive of the Standard (Scott type) dogs and the heavy bone and muscle of the Johnson dogs. So we set out to produce a Johnson/Scott hybrid dog that combined the best of both breed types (lofty idea, but we aim high). We have had some great success with producing dogs that are 3/4 Johnson and 1/4 Scott. As our kennel matured we began producing Johnson type dogs along with our hybrids. We Really like a dog that is 7/8 Johnson with 1/8 Scott or Painter blood mixed in. We have seen this breed transition in time. We are producing the old style Johnson type American Bulldog that is large in stature, heavy boned and ruggedly built. We steer clear of the dogs that are extreme in one area of it's confirmation and look for the well rounded, uniform dogs. W Folks, lets face it there are hundreds of American Bulldog breeders out there. We are trying to set our kennel apart and are committed to the American Bulldog breed. Our goal is to improve on our dogs and this breed one generation at a time. We have invested a lot of time and money into developing our breeding program. Thanks for your time and we hope you enjoy our dogs, Dan Last updated on 2/1/10 Thank you veterans for keeping us safe - May God bless YOU !!!
